St. Paul’s Community Development Trust has something to celebrate, as they received Outstanding from Ofsted at their recent Inspection. The Trust is the first provider in Birmingham to receive an Outstanding grade under the Ofsted Framework for Leading and Managing a Group of Children’s Centres.
Building on their outstanding success in October 2014, the Trust now manages a further two Centres in Sparkbrook, one of most deprived wards in the country.
Balsall Heath Children’s Centre Hub, which includes Anderton Park and Muath Trust Children Centres, was launched in June 2012. In a relatively short time it has developed into what Ofsted describe as a group of centres that “Have an excellent understanding of the needs of local families and provide highly effective support at the right time.”
St Paul’s has been pioneering the delivery of innovative and effective services to support children, young people and families living in Balsall Heath since 1973 and, as a registered charity its work extends far beyond that of a conventional Children’s Centre.
The Children’s Centre works with hundreds of children and families each week through the provision of services such as three nurseries, crèches, ante and post natal sessions, eleven stay and plays and intensive support for the most vulnerable families in the area.
In addition the Trust boasts unique resources available to the Children’s Centre and the wider community, including a Community Farm, narrow boat, inclusive play service; an independent secondary school for pupils for whom mainstream provision was unable to meet their needs and a 44 place Apprenticeship programme.
What makes St. Paul’s Community Development Trust so successful in Ofsted’s words is “The arrangements for leadership, governance and management that are highly affective… and the group manager – an inspirational leader. Her energy and vision for excellence enthuse others to have high aspirations for all children and families”.
St. Paul’s Community Development Trust provides a range of services for children and young people.
