Balsall Heath Children's Centre

Children

Our Children’s Centre is part of a Government-funded initiative, which aims to help give children under 5 years of age a better start in life. By bringing together local agencies and parents and working with key stakeholders within the Birmingham area, services are tailored to meet the needs of the different sections of the community. By becoming actively involved in the Children’s Centre, parents can have ‘a voice’ in the range of provision available.

The Children’s Centre is based on a commitment to improve the coordination, quality and quantity of services for young children. This stems from the knowledge that the joining up of services and disciplines such as education, care, family support and health is a key factor in determining good outcomes for children.

The core offer for Children’s Centres is:

In addition, Children’s Centres acts as service hubs within the community for parents and providers of childcare services for children of all ages – offering bases for childminder networks and links to other day care provision, out of school clubs and extended schools. Centres also have a link with training and education providers, Job Centre Plus and the Family Information Service.
