Impetus Award 2007-2008

The Impetus Award recognises creative and innovative work by young people who use ethical values and human rights to respond to contemporary, challenging and contested issues in our society. Impetus forms part of the mission of the Institute for Global Ethics in promoting ethical behaviour in individuals, institutions and nations.

Balsall Heath Extended School Cluster has been awarded an Impetus Award for 2007-2008 for the work they have been delivering on Hear by Right. Following the successful event in March 08 the young people developed a Hear by Right Action Plan for the cluster. The cluster have gone on to implement some of the priorities set by the young people such as: having more of a say with new appointments and induction of staff; having a web site/page to make comments; receiving feedback and generally being listened to and having ‘a voice’.
