Website Workshop

Hear By Rights is all about involving children within decision making, so we thought there was no better way to do this, than to introduce the children to the hear by rights website and ask them to contribute to its development.

Here is what the children had to say:

Hi, I’m Maame, and I am a member of Hear by Right. We help children have a say in what they want in their community. For the past few months our group, have had meetings to help children change our society. I go to Swanshurst secondary school and I heard of Hear By Rights by going to a club called, Girls In Action. The members of, Girls In Action elected me. We want the voice of the children to help make suggestions. On our first meeting, July 17th 2009, we talked about what changes we want in the parks and what we wanted in them.

‘*If the people who are supposed to be the beneficiaries of change do not know that it is happening – then it probably is not happening*’
Lord Herman Ouseley, Former Chair of the Commission for Racial Equality.

My name is Remanda and I am a part of Hear By Rights. Hear by rights helps children to make decisions in their community.
In the group we have been doing competitions and games.
On other occasions we do votes to elect children for different jobs and so on….
July 17th Rhonda said that there is going to be a chairperson of our group and we all have to vote.
We help children have their say!!!

I am here because people came to my play scheme and told us about the here by right. They would write a speech and tell them why they should choose us and then we read them to every one would get a piece of paper and the person then they would chose a person who they wanted to chose and write it on the piece of paper and after they did that they would give it in and then and see how many votes the people got and I got one of the most votes so I got chose the people would send you letter and it would tell you when the meeting would be.
In the meetings we have been talking about how we could change the parks and how we could improve them.
