Early Years (0-5)

P5300015 The team identifies the needs and delivers within the area, a variety of childcare provision. They run a Mobile Toy Library to visit a variety of settings in the area and encourage an understanding of the importance of play. They promote communication and language development with support from appropriate support agencies.

The Children’s Centre Teacher

The Children’s Centre Teacher’s role is to support early years settings in providing consistent quality of learning and development.

The teacher works alongside practitioners within our reach area offering support and advice on planning, assessment and effective practice. Support is also offered during play and stay sessions where parents are encouraged to play with their children during fun, stimulating sessions.

Childminders within the Balsall Heath Children’s Centre area are able to access all the services which are offered to families and settings.

St Paul’s Nursery, a Full Day Care setting, offers both full and part-time places for children aged 3 months to 5 years for children of families living in the Balsall Heath and surrounding areas. The Nursery is open from 8.00am until 6.00pm, 5 days each week for 50 weeks of the year excluding bank holidays.

The Nursery along with other child care providers, work closely with Balsall Heath Children’s Centre to support families where children have additional needs.
This enables early identification of these needs and the correct support to be put into place. Balsall Heath Children’s Centre uses the ‘Early Support’ package which is the Government programme to achieve better co-ordinated, family focused services for young disabled children and their families. It is a national programme that is being introduced and used in local authorities, hospitals and community-based health services across England and now Children Centres.
