Family Support Visits

The Health Promotion and Family Support team offer many services to support women and their family during and after pregnancy. We aim to visit all women in the area during their pregnancy and again before the baby is two months old to let them know about our services and to offer advice and support with nutrition, stopping smoking, breastfeeding, post natal depression as well as many other issues.

New Birth Visits

Having a baby can be very daunting and stressful which is why the family support team here at the Balsall Heath Children’s Centre offer a privileged service to all new parents by visiting them and their families at home. We can provide support and help to make the transition to parenthood easier. We offer the following;

· Provide information on services at the centre and services that will suit your needs
· Individual tailored support
· Provide you with good support networks
· Help and guidance for mother and baby as well as the whole family
· Provide advice on various topics.
· Ensure maternal health.

We provide a home visit to register you with the centre so you have access to the above. This is a good opportunity for new parents to feel that they have a support network and to feel confident in their new role.

Home Visits

The Family Support team conduct home visits to provide families with support and information about services run by the Children’s Centre to encourage families to integrate within the community and access the different services.

Family support workers are able to refer families to access other services such as nursery places, playscheme and CASA’s support and advice.

The Family Support team can also refer the family to Primary Services who provide playscheme and after-school clubs for children between 5-11years.
