Feedback 2009

DinosaurHere are some of the comments people have made about the 2009 Carnival. They have said lots of complementary things about the event and also made some suggestions about how we can make the 2010 Carnival even better!

I really enjoyed taking part in the carnival. The workers got everything effectively co-ordinated in a visible appropriate but informal manner.

Going round the small streets in the area really got things to a household level. It felt like people felt something was happening in their area, they could just watch or join in later if they wanted. It felt like it was a good example of community cohesion- music and carnival was mixing up the feel of the neighbourhood. The samba band was excellent.

To improve, to be there I saw how useful the event was and I could tell from the packed park that the momentum had been building up over the years. I would have liked to see more support from the housing associations who have so many properties in the area. Although I did see Mosley and district.

The kids from the school really filled out the parade. Perhaps there was room for more different organisations.

Me, my partner and daughters really enjoyed a great neighbourhood event.

My Chair and Vice Chair (Raja and Steve) have both asked me to pass on to you their admiration and congratulations. They say that the Carnival was superb and did the whole neighbourhood proud. Councillor Yaqoob who helped with the judging told me she felt the day was ‘special and moving’.

May I add my own thanks to you and all those who helped. I know that when you are close up to something and are aware of the bits which need sticking plaster, you don’t always see the things as a whole. I did. It really was very, very, good. It was Balsall Heath at its best.

Well done. You gave joy to thousands of people.

With many thanks,

Dick Atkinson

These comments sum up the essence of the others that we have received:

It was a nice smiley happy day as ever.

Thank you from everyone – a masterpiece of organisation.

Love the website.

I think it was an excellent event, as always.

It might be useful to showcase local talent with an open mic section on the stage.

I just want to say although I was tired, I really enjoyed helping in the morning.

I thought it was one of the better ones.

Great photo’s!

I would like to say it was a wonderful carnival and thank you to all those who put in such heroic effort.

It was a lovely, peaceful, busy event, all things to all people hopefully.

A big well done to everyone for all the hard work, before, during and after the event.

I thought the Carnival was great, I just felt disappointed that the parade itself was smaller than in previous years, however I thought that there was a great turnout with some great costumes and stalls and a really lovely atmosphere.

The length of the walk for nursery was ideal. The drums were great. More music on the parade and at the park would have been an improvement.

Banners would be nice. You can fly them like flags at the park after the parade is over. It’s another way for people to show they support the carnival.

I think it all went really well, it definitely would be good to get more schools and local groups involved in the parade… not sure how though.

Fantastic event, well organised and a friendly atmosphere.

Thank you for helping my patch of Birmingham have fun.

We need to book the sunshine for every year!
