Goodbye Mr Tatton

In 1967 a newly qualified teacher called Keith Tatton began his teaching career. By 1979 he had become Head Teacher at Clifton Junior School and has remained in the same post ever since. For 28 years Mr Tatton has stayed with the school. “If you can’t be good be lucky and I think I have been really lucky to be at Clifton. It’s been quite a long time and I know this because it was the last time England won the World Cup.

I don’t think I would have done 28 years as a Head if it weren’t for the support I have received over the years. I would like to thank parents for supporting me and praising me, it’s an immense relief in times of stress”.

Assistant Head Matt Smith said of Head Teacher Mr Tatton, “He has a genuine interest in the achievements of the children in his care. He has taught here for the last 40years and we always find people aged from 5 to 45 coming up and asking how Mr Tatton is? He runs a very positive school and has always been involved in the holistic approach. I would just like to say thank you Mr Tatton it’s been a genuine pleasure”.

Former Head of Birmingham Education Tim Brighouse said in a letter sent to the school ‘Quite simply people are better off for knowing Keith Tatton.’
