International Women’s Week

The 13th March marked the official date for International Women’s Day celebrations in Balsall Heath. It was a time to celebrate the considerable role that women have played, and continue to play, in shaping history.

The was a chance to look upon the progress made, to call for change and to celebrate acts of courage and determination by ordinary women who have played an extraordinary role in the history of women’s rights. International Women’s Day is an occasion marked by the United Nations and women’s groups around the world. It has a global dimension in both developed and developing countries alike. It provides an opportunity for women in every country, often divided by ethnic, linguistic, cultural, economic and political differences, to come together and celebrate this important date that represents equality, justice, peace and development.
