One person in six has poor literacy skills that impact on every part of their life
- Children cannot succeed at school, adults struggle to access the job market and as parents cannot support their child’s learning
- Poverty doubles the likelihood of literacy failure by the age of five
Shocking facts, but this is the reality for the vast number of families we work with in Balsall Heath.
As part of our continuing commitment to raising literacy levels and encouraging families to enjoy reading, we are leading a campaign to help families in Balsall Heath reading #getbalsallheathreading.
Please support and champion our work. You can volunteer, donate books or simply become a literacy champion by completing a book review.
See the pages below for our gallery of Literacy Champions and find out what they like to read. If you would like to be a literacy Champion, please email firstname.lastname@example.org
