Balsall Heath Carnival 2010 took place on Saturday 3rd July and was enjoyed by thousands of Balsall Heathans. The weather was great and visitors to Pickwick Park enjoyed the mini fun fair rides, looking for bargains on the many stalls and listening to the entertainment on the main stage. The crowd cheered the arrival of the street procession which was made up of over 140 participants, all dressed in bright and vibrant costumes.
Our three judges awarded the best stall prize to Jericho Foundation. They had a more difficult time agreeing on who should win the best procession entry prize. After much deliberation it was agreed that all three groups should be declared winner, so congratulations to St. Paul’s Venture, Clifton Primary School and the Balsall Heath Local history Society!
We would like to thank the staff of Sanjhi Awaz Radio, the digital radio station for organising the entertainments for the day.
The organisers would like to thank everyone for participating and making the day so enjoyable for so many people. Without the kind support and massive effort put in by many volunteers (some of whom worked from 6.30an to 8.30pm), the event simply would not happen.
Please visit the Carnival Gallery to see some of our favourite photographs of the day.
