Big Success
This year Balsall Heath Carnival provided an estimated 5000 people with a chance to have some fun in the sun. Despite the threat of showers people could be seen sitting and enjoying the day all over the park, sampling food from an array of stalls while listening to the acts on the main stage. The lack of rain, the carnival spirit and a sense of community made the day a very special occasion that brought the whole community together.
Procession
As with every year, all of the groups that took part in the procession provided an amazing display of ideas and creativity through the design of their costumes and props. Hundreds of Clifton School children along with their teachers, classroom assistants and head teacher brought a riot of colour to the streets of Balsall Heath showing everyone how recycled shopping trolleys can be accessorised. The street collection raised £129.49.
Thank you
The Carnival Committee would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who helped with this year’s carnival. Special thanks go to Gladys Ford and Councillor Salma Yaqoob who helped provide the judging on the day for the best stall and the procession competitions. Further thanks go to Atelier Screenprint Ltd for their support. Thanks must also go to the Kings Christian Centre, Riverside Church and their friends for the help they provided throughout the day with their activities and litter picking. A big thank you goes to the Balsall Heath Community Wardens for their help and to all the volunteers, helpers and friends who made the day possible.
