The Way Ahead Project will be delivering E2L programmes starting on Monday 14th September, providing a continuous programme with weekly referral opportunities. The Course is specifically designed for young people who are disengaged from education, employment or training. Young people are encouraged to develop new and existing skills and make positive and informed career choices throughout the E2L programme.
The E2L programme consists of three stages, with each stage individually catered for each young persons needs.
Weeks 1 to 5 – Each young person will be allocated a connexions advisor who during the first five weeks will support the young person in a variety of activities including applying for EMA allowance, setting up bank accounts and careers advice.
Weeks 6 to 10 – Each young person will select a qualifications route.
Option 1 – Teamwork Skills, Careers Preparation. Teamwork Skills includes ICT, cookery and budgeting, sports and outdoor activities
Option 2 – Creative Arts, Careers Preparation. Creative Arts includes music production, graphic design, textiles and 2D art.
Weeks 11 to 15 – The Transitions period of the programme will have a careers focus, each young person will have the opportunity to gain a 3rd NOCN qualification, Entry to Employment Unit, enabling students to produce a C.V and gain essential career guidance. Each young person will also have the opportunity to gain a work experience placement in a variety of fields along side gaining a positive destination on completion of the E2L programme.
A student attending the E2L programme will be able to achieve 3 National Open College Network (NOCN) qualifications at a level appropriate to their individual abilities. EMA allowance will be available through connexions during the E2L provision.
