The Carnival Memories exhibition held on the 24th April, hosted by the Balsall Heath local History Society and St. Paul’s Community Development Trust was a great success.
Over 50 people of all ages visited the Balsall Heath Initiative Centre, Clifton Road to view some of the best photographs from the Carnival Archive.
Visitors who had been at past carnivals were able to identify themselves, their friends and neighbours and share their memories and anecdotes. Those who had not been to previous Carnivals were able to learn about the event and its importance to Balsall Heath.
The information collected during the day will be collated and added to the archive. The Carnival archive will soon be available on a brand new website called Digital Balsall Heath which will be launched in the next few months. Watch this space for further details.
Don’t worry if you missed the exhibition as it will soon be going on tour.
If you have any Carnival photographs or memories that you would like to share, please contact Chris Sutton on 0121 464 4376 or chris.sutton@stpaulstrust.org.uk.
