The Venture held its second successful Farm Open Day of the year on Saturday 16th May.The event was open to all members of the public particularly local families. Doors opened at 11 o’clock and the first families came straight in and stayed until the end of the day.
Despite the odd rain shower, over 150 children and adults enjoyed meeting the animals and taking part in a range of art & craft activities. Visitors could meet the animals, pet the baby rabbits and ask questions of the farm staff. Children and parents were able to engage, in activities such as friendship bracelet making, junk modelling and outdoor games. Face painting and hand mendhi were popular. Also very popular were the refreshments, especially the home made cakes!
Here are just a few of the comments made by visitors:
I like the animals. (Ameena age 2)
I liked the face painting and making butterflies. (Fatiha age 5)
I liked the rabbits especially the baby because I could touch it. (Mariam age 9)
I liked the bracelet making and the animals. Henrietta (the hen) is wonderful! (Lauren age 13)
Fantastic, everyone so friendly, so child friendly I can feel relaxed. It has brought my childhood memories of growing up here back I used to help Ken with the farm. (Shabina)
