Over 120 children and families came along to our first Halloween party on Friday 29th October to help St Paul’s celebrate its 30th year as a Charity. Many people, young an old came along in spectacularly spooky costumes, armed with torches and lanterns so that they could take part in the torchlight treasure hunt.
Almost everyone was brave enough to tour the haunted house – some people seemed to sprint round as fast as they could, ‘helped’ by a charming witch or two.
Volunteers painted dozens of ghoulish faces and painted hundreds of spooky nails.
There were fifteen entries in the pumpkin carving competition which produced a marvelous mixture of spooky and beautiful works of art. Some people prepared their pumpkins at home and brought them along and others had a great time carving them in the hall. The finished lanterns helped to add to an eerie atmosphere to the already spookily lit hall. (The winning pumpkin and its team of ghoulish creators are pictured left).
Thanks to the efforts of the staff and volunteers who helped set up the party and of course the generosity of everyone who attended, we have managed to raise at least £166 for our minibus appeal.
