Here are some of the photographs taken at the 'Life Stories' launch held at Mary Street Church Centre. The Balsall Heath Children’s Centre and Extended School Cluster celebrated the life stories of parents and young people. Over the past months their stories had been captured, recorded and finally published. Claire, one of Balsall Heath Children’s centre young parents, wrote and bravely read a poem, which reflected her life as a young single parent, bringing up her son T.J. at the launch.

The Balsall Heath Carnival has been running every year since 1976. These are some of the thousands of pictures that have been taken over the years. How much of this do you remember?

The Balsall Heath Carnival began in 1977 and has run every year since. Some things have changed over the years including the park it is held in and the masses of sports events but there has always been a parade and a show and lots and lots of people.

Over 120 children and families came along to our first Halloween party on Friday 29th October to help St Paul’s celebrate its 30th year as a Charity. Many people, young an old came along in spectacularly spooky costumes, armed with torches and lanterns so that they could take part in the torchlight treasure hunt. Almost everyone was brave enough to tour the haunted house – some people seemed to sprint round as fast as they could, ‘helped’ by a charming witch or two. Volunteers painted dozens of ghoulish faces and painted hundreds of spooky nails. There were fifteen entries in the pumpkin carving competition which produced a marvelous mixture of spooky and beautiful works of art. Some people prepared their pumpkins at home and brought them along and others had a great time carving them in the hall. The finished lanterns helped to add to an eerie atmosphere to the already spookily lit hall. Thanks to the efforts of the staff and volunteers who helped set up the party and of course the generosity of everyone who attended, we have managed to raise at least £166 for our minibus appeal.
