St Paul’s Community Development Trust in Balsall Heath in conjunction with West Midlands Police, Balsall Heath Children’s Centre and Jobcentre Plus will be holding a New Year Jobs Fair. The event aims to provide opportunities and guidance for young people 18 plus in Balsall Heath and the surrounding areas.

Public sector employers along with recruitment specialists will be available to provide practical advice on how to start the New Year with a fresh start.

Although mainly targeted at the unemployed, there will also be a wealth of information for those in employment, who wish to change career direction. There will also be information on apprenticeships and how this links to employment.

Jobcentre Plus will be on hand to meet and talk about the hundreds of vacancies that they have at the moment, how to apply. Education and guidance providers for young people, Wayahead will be offering support workshops throughout the day. The sessions will include CV surgeries, interview technique workshops, successful application form techniques and career mentoring.

Wayahead Manager and Jobs Fair coordinator Sarah Gallagher said, “It being a new year many will feel the need for a fresh start. That is why I am confident that whether it is those who come with an idea of what they want or those who have lost direction everyone will leave the day newly invigorated for the road ahead. We aim to open new doors in career aspirations and be the catalyst for successful futures”.
