With the teacher and children costumed and in character throughout the last day at school is relived before the children are evacuated to a place of safety. Tables are chanted and the value of pounds, shillings and pence taught before identity labels are written using dip pen and ink and the children given their Identity Cards ready for the departure from Birmingham the following morning.

So for only a pound a head we’ll meet again some sunny day!
