St Paul’s is a small independent school in the heart of Balsall Heath that supports young people who have experienced difficulties in main stream education.
We provide a welcoming environment for pupils and students aged 9 – post 16 who have emotional, social and/or health difficulties and special educational needs.
We offer pupils the opportunity to learn in small supportive classes, enabling them to reach their full potential.
We believe that all young people have the right to enjoy their education in a safe and nurturing setting. We listen to young people’s ideas and help them build their own path through supportive learning contexts. St Paul’s School encourages individuals to grow in confidence, gain valuable qualifications and develop essential life skills.
Through our curriculum we offer a range of core and vocational subjects. We provide a timetable that creates is challenging, but gives pupils the time and encouragement they need to achieve their ambitions.
Day by day we see pupils’ confidence grow and we encourage them to reflect on their own experiences and show them that big dreams begin with small ideas. We show each other that no matter what happened yesterday, today is a new day and that the positive choices made right now will shape tomorrow forever.
St. Paul’s Community Development Trust has a suite of policies and procedures that give staff a clear framework in which to carry out their work.
The policies are available for all, but most especially our managers, staff and volunteers. Their purpose is to provide information about the standards and practices that the Trustees require from all who work for the organisation. All staff are especially trained to safeguard the welfare of children and young people.
The policies and procedures are regularly reviewed to ensure they comply with legislation or government guidelines and reflect the Trust’s values, its status as a Charity and its aim of basing its work on good practice.
In addition to the main policies, we also have specific guidance for our work with children, which can be found here.
