The Balsall Heathan
The Balsall Heathan community newspaper is the longest standing publication of its kind in Birmingham. It was established in 1973 and is still published on a monthly basis. The newspaper began its history through a campaign to save a local nursery and proved to be such a hit, that it continues to this day. It’s a great read!
The Heathan provides a mouthpiece for interested groups, local residents and individuals and actively promotes local interest and pride in the local community of Balsall Heath.
If you are interested in submitting an article or letter for the Heathan contact the Editor, Peter Cole on 464 4376 or email balsall.heathan@stpaulstrust.org.uk
The deadline for submitting text for the next issue is 12 noon.

Hot on the heels of its recent debut production of ’Eclipsed – The Dark Side of the Lunar Society’, the Birmingham History Theatre Company is now planning to create a play inspired by the 1938 Birmingham Pageant, which had a cast of 6,000! We intend to look at (and imagine) some of the stories about the people behind the Pageant and reveal the drama behind the drama.
If you are interested in becoming a member of the group (as an actor, musician, technician or something else) please join us at St. Paul’s School, Hertford Street at 7.30pm on Wednesday 8th September.
For further details contact Val Hart or Ian Edwards on 0121 464 4376.
