Wehida Mulla – Language Through Play Worker (St. Paul’s Trust Children’s Centre)
I am running the Rotary Shakespeare Full Marathon in Stratford-upon-Avon on Sunday 28th April 2019 to help raise money to support Balsall Heath City Farm stay open.
This lovely farm is set to close unless new money can be raised. Unless funding can be found the closure will go ahead.
I was pleasantly surprised to see a farm in the inner city in Balsall Heath. Just watching children’s reactions, their delighted faces when they see the animals as they are walking into the centre/nursery with their parents is just so lovely to see. Many families cannot afford to take their children to visit a farm therefore this farm gives these children the “gift” of experiencing and learning about the farm.
I have been running regularly for the last 6 years now taking part in 10k and Half Marathons. This is my first full marathon (and last!) and finding the training really challenging. Juggling work and family life as well as making time to train 3 times a week, I keep saying to myself “what/why am I doing this?!” It will be a huge personal achievement for me but then this is also a great cause and what better way I can raise money for this fab place!
