Holiday Kitchen is a school holiday activity programme for pre and primary aged children and their parents/careers, to learn about food, cook and share meals, and take part in fun, physical activities. The programme runs at the end of every term.
Families are often referred by Children’s Centre staff and other professional agencies. This is an opportunity for families to try new experiences, challenges and form new friendships.
In previous sessions we have carried out activities relating to different methods of budgeting for example introducing them to different ways of shopping and taking them to allotments to encourage them to grow their own foods. Families benefited from these activities.
“First time I came to session I really enjoyed it. Liked the food and going to the farm”
“I will play egg and spoon race at home too, it’s easier with plastic eggs rather than wasting money and food on hard boiling the eggs.”
“Getting together with other families and their children, encourages children to eat healthy. My child got to experience new activities”
“It was nice to take part in the Holiday Kitchen, as I have never taken part in one before. A very interesting and enjoyable two mornings, have made my life a lot easier”
