St Paul’s Community Development Trust has been the lead and accountable body for the hub site at Malvern Street since its origins as a Sure Start in the early 2000’s.
Both our current sites at Malvern Street and Braithwaite Road (previously led by Birmingham City Council and Spurgeons) started out as Sure Start Local Programmes and then further developed into Children’s Centres when there was a change in government policy.
The centres worked closely together over the years and this was further developed when the introduction of locality working commenced in 2011 bringing Springfield Children’s Centre and Muath Children’s Centre into the partnership.
Now we move into a new partnership and way of working as Children’s Centres. A new Early Years and Wellbeing service for children and families aims to make sure every child in Birmingham – from before birth to age five – get an equal chance to have the best start in life.
With Birmingham Forward Steps, health visitors and children’s centres have formed an integrated service to provide friendly advice and support, working together in a wide range of community locations.
Forming the Hall Green District:
St Paul’s Children’s Centres have a hub site at Malvern Street and a satellite site at Braithwaite Road.
Springfield Children’s Centre have a hub site at Springfield Road.
A number of community venues are also used throughout the district delivering services to local families.
The delivery partnership is made up of:
